Supported Employment

Supported Employment in Virginia

Supported employment is one of many effective ways of assisting persons with disabilities in gaining and maintaining employment.  DRS partners with over 60 Employment Services Organizations in providing situational assessment, job development, placement and training services and long term follow along both individually and in groups.

DRS may provide supported employment or job coach training services, if appropriate and with agreement of their DRS counselor, to consumers of the agency as long as they are considered ”most severely disabled” regardless of their impairment or disability cause.

All of the Employment Services Organizations that provide supported employment and job coaching services are CARF accredited to ensure that our mutual consumers are receiving quality services.

For a more details of supported employment and job coach training services, we invite you to review the Introduction to Supported Employmentpresentation found on this page as well as reading the Virginia Guide to Supported Employment.
